CHIANG MAI—The Humanitarian Observatory for Policy and Education in Southeast Asia (HOPE SEA) joined TEDxChiangMai 2025 – "Actions for our Future" at Chiang Mai University on November 15, 2025, contributing to an inspiring day focused on climate solutions and community-driven change.
At the HOPE SEA interactive booth, participants learned how the observatory tackles Southeast Asia's most urgent climate challenges, including rising seas, floods, landslides, and the displacement they trigger. As part of the global network of the Hague Humanitarian Studies Centre, HOPE SEA connects science, stories, and policy to empower communities and support evidence-based climate action across the region.
Beyond the booth, HOPE SEA also hosted a hands-on workshop on climate risk communication featuring its original board game, "Flee or Fight: Running for Climate Resilience." This dynamic session invited attendees to navigate flood, drought, and relocation scenarios, turning complex policy issues into an accessible, collaborative, and thought-provoking experience. The workshop sparked lively discussions on resilience, local realities, and the human impacts of climate change.
As TEDxChiangMai 2025 brought together researchers, practitioners, artists, and students to explore meaningful climate solutions, HOPE SEA was proud to contribute a grounded regional perspective. The event reaffirmed the importance of connecting data, community voices, and actionable policy to build a more resilient, equitable future for Southeast Asia. HOPE SEA looks forward to continuing this momentum and strengthening collaborations that turn knowledge into real, lasting impact.
