HOPE SEA's Planned Relocation Webinar Series

We are launching an international Call for Speakers and Case Study Nominations for our upcoming online seminar series on “Land, Livelihoods and Climate-Related Planned Relocation.”

Through this initiative, we hope to bring together practitioners, researchers, government officials, NGOs, and community representatives from around the world to share practical experiences and lessons learned.

We are particularly interested in real-world cases addressing:

Land identification and allocation: How are suitable relocation sites identified, and how is land allocated to relocated communities?

Land tenure and rights: What arrangements are made for land ownership, tenure security, and land-use rights?

Livelihood restoration: How are farming, employment, income, and quality of life restored after relocation?

Relocation planning and implementation: How are communities involved throughout the process, from planning to implementation and long-term recovery?

Policies, financing, and institutional arrangements: What legal frameworks, budgets, government agencies, and coordination mechanisms are needed to make planned relocation work?

We welcome experiences from all countries, including both successful initiatives and cases that offer important lessons from challenges encountered.

There are two ways to participate:

Nominate a speaker who has relevant knowledge or practical experience.

Express your own interest in presenting a case study.

Selected speakers will be invited to deliver a 20–30-minute presentation during our online seminar series (January–March 2027), with an honorarium of USD 100 per speaker.

📅 Nomination deadline: 30 November 2026

I would be very grateful if you could help circulate this opportunity within your networks or recommend colleagues and practitioners whose experiences could contribute to this international exchange.

Our broader ambition is to learn from diverse experiences worldwide and translate these lessons into practical, equitable, and community-centred approaches to planned relocation in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
